There are seven countries around the world renowned for having the most Michelin star restaurants. Among them, France and Japan spearhead the gastronomic heritage as they are culinary giants in the Michelin scene. France has a total of 636 Michelin stars (528 with 1 star, 70 with two, and 30 with three), whilst Japan has a total of 387 in distant second place (304 with 1 star, 63 with two and 20 with one).
Rounding out the top seven countries with Michelin starred restaurants ate Italy (381), Germany (330), Spain (267), United States (234) and the UK with 185.
For cities with the highest number of Michelin starred restaurants, head to Tokyo (194), Paris (136), Kyoto (103), Osaka (95) or London (80).
