Top Food Photographs 2023

Here are some of the winning images in this year’s Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year. The judging panel included Fiona Shields, head of photography at the Guardian, and Rein Skullerud from the United Nations World Food Programme.

Autumn in Shanxi province, China. The mountainous region is so cold and dry that persimmon is the main source of income for local farmers. The persimmons are harvested, peeled and dressed, and hung under the eaves in bunches, waiting to soften and freeze, hoping they will bring a good price in the New Year.

These women are drying fish but they appear to be artistically connecting the coloured patches together.

 

The finalists’ work in Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2023 will be exhibited at The Royal Photographic Society, one of the world’s oldest photographic societies, in Bristol, south west England.
