Well, CudaJet will soon be endeavouring to persuade you to buy theirs in order to fulfil your underwater fantasies with a true backpack-style underwater jetpack. Indeed, it's a world-first and offers the chance to "experience the sensation of weightless flight in all three dimensions."

It was developed by British underwater enthusiast Archie O'Brien while he was in his final year at Loughborough Design School. Among other things, he wanted to create a system that was lighter and faster than existing products. The CudaJet is the final commercial version of what he envisioned.

The sleek contraption consists of a dual-jet-drive pack, which is attached to a padded neoprene harness that's worn on the torso. A hardwired handheld trigger-style remote is used to control the speed and monitor the lithium battery's charge level - one 75 minute charge is said to be good for a runtime of up to 40 minutes.

The jetpack can be used to a maximum depth of 40 meters (131 ft) and, so the company claims, can take the wearer up to a top speed of 3 meters (10 ft) per second.

There's no word yet as to when it's going to be released but anyone who wants a CudaJet is going to need deep neoprene pockets as prices are expected to start at £14,000 (about US$18,000). Want to see this device in action? Check out the video below...
